Prepineer Digest 003
FE Exam Support, Normal Distributions and How Many AIT problems!
I hope your holidays have gone well and you have been able to make the most out of being with family despite all the restrictions.
I know I am not the only one hollering when I say that I am pumped to be upon this season, despite everything that went down in 2020, the spirit and joy of these months always lifts me up.
This is the time of year when we all can slow down and ponder what we are grateful for, what we have been able to accomplish over the past year and what we are looking forward to accomplishing in the coming year.
One thing I’m grateful for is YOU.
Whether you have been with me over the last decade or are just joining along, thank you for allowing me to be part of your engineering journey.
I created Prepineer to serve others. To help people like you take a courageous step towards a life they had always envisioned.
My commitment to you remains the same, I will continue to serve you valuable content that actually makes an impact. Content that is focused on getting you where you need to be come exam day.
So whether this is your first attempt at the exam, have taken it multiple times and failed or been out of school for what seems like eternity, I am here to serve you, and for that, I am grateful.
Enjoy the resources! 🙂

What’s featured in this weeks digest
In this Prepineer digest, we dive in to some critical elements of exam prep, inching you forward, one brick at a time, towards FE Exam success – here is the rundown:
- We start everything off discussing the importance of an ecosystem of support when it comes to the FE Exam: Believe You Are Worthy
- Need some reps in practice, we’ve got you covered, walking you through a practice problem in Engineering Economics: How do you determine the proportion of range within a Normal Distribution?
- What about those new Alternative Item Type problems – most have questions, we have answers: How many AIT problems will be on the FE Exam?
Click where you’d like to start, or check out each resource individually, whichever way you go, enjoy!
Believe You Are Worthy
We have all heard that saying “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.”
Let’s be real though, when it comes down to passing the FE Exam – it’s both.
You need to know more about the discipline of engineering than you get from watching Myth Busters…you need to bring something to the table.
This isn’t first grade where you get a gold star just for showing up.
It’s oxymoronic to say, but we all know, there are plenty of brilliant failures out there. People who are incredibly smart, near genius, but incredibly dumb about surrounding themselves with people that can help them achieve their ultimate goals.
No one builds a successful career, nor do they pass the FE Exam, going at it alone.
The most successful engineers (heck individuals) have an ecosystem of individuals around them. People who not only understand their deepest desires, but buy in to those desires in an effort to facilitate avenues of growth through personal support.
And I am not just referring to educational support, I am talking about friends, family, mentors, coaches, from all different walks of life rallying around us to bear the burdens and steer us towards becoming the best version of us we can be.
These ecosystems are real, they are powerful, but they don’t formulate through osmosis – there is one key precursor to any of this happening in your own life…
Belief in yourself and acceptance that you are worthy of all the goals you desire.
Because you are.
It’s from this point that your ecosystem of support can blossom, weak areas reinforced and a revived sense of drive will manifest.
People love an underdog story, even more, they love to be part of that story. The only thing we need to do is practice humility, overflow with gratitude and open up our lives to the serendipitous relationships that comes through moments of vulnerability.
You deserve it.
How do you determine the proportion of range within a Normal Distribution?
As engineers, we are good with numbers…but statistical analysis of number sets, welp, that can be a whole’nother story for many. And when we enter the world of PROBABILITY DENSITY FUNCTIONS and their associated value tables, that could be enough to throw us in to complete oblivion.
But we don’t want that to be your case, in this video, we dive in to an FE Exam Practice Problem in the subject of PROBABILITY & STATISTICS, specifically revolving around dealing with a set of measurements that are NORMALLY DISTRIBUTED.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many AIT problems will be on the FE Exam?
The game has changed when it comes to taking the FE Exam.
No more are the days that we could rely on the uniformity of MULTIPLE CHOICE only questions, now we need to be prepared to see potentially 5 different problem types, four of which are in the new ALTERNATIVE ITEM TYPE form.
The question is, how many should you expect to see?
Let’s get in to it…
So that’s it for today, until next time we connect my friend, may God bless you and your family! 🙂
